University reputation: does it matter in Korea for getting a job?

I will soon be finishing my MSc at Imperial College, which in the West is generally considered a world renowned university with an exceedingly high reputation (note I don't think much of it but that is another story) in the West. Do Koreans know of it? or better put would people hiring at universities know of it?

Any info is appreciated and cheers...

Moving to Korea to directly look for university positions: good idea?

I am not quite there yet, meaning I am not fully intent on doing so but I am considering it, say for next year depending on how things economically work out for me here; is this a good thing to do as a rule? Perhaps combine it with a Korean language course? I realise that most universities do not interview over the phone and only an in-person interview would be acceptable and I have read several things online that suggest doing this. What would the experts' opinion be here? I think inevitable in some sense that I have to return to Korea anyway so planning at this stage is not a bad thing.

Applying for an E2 visa within korea

Hey everyone,

I am going to be back in Korea soon, on a tourist visa. My last e2 expired after I finished my last job and now I'm in the process of applying for a new one.

I changed my tourist (c-2 i think) visa into an e-2 within korea for my last job with epik and as far as i remember I was able to get all the required documents within korea.

I already have my crim check (will get it notarized at the canadian consulate)

E2 visa question

realize that definitive answers are sometimes hard to provide, as the required documents seem to vary in different cases. But here is my case.

I'm going to provide as much info as possible so there is no confusion.

I obtained an E2-1 visa on the 8th of October 2010.
It says the period of sojourn is 13 months.
My re-entry permit says I am good to re-enter until 24th November 2011.
My current contract expires on the 31st October 2011.

Busan or Ulsan for first time English teachers in South Korea?

Hello,

I am stuck between these two cities for where to find a job in Korea.  I live in Manchester UK at the moment and love the size of my city, not too big not too small.

Mainly I am looking for nice green areas and a pretty look to the city but I also love going out (techno clubs etc) and drinking.  I know Busan offers more in this area but Ulsan is a more beautiful city (apparently).  How viable is it to stay in Ulsan then travel to Busan on a weekend to go out? How late does the train operate til?  I am going out to Korea with two friends.

WTF- Recruiters, do you care???

Don't normally care about such things. However, I saw a job on here today for 2.1m, based in a non- event City. It was an 8 hour per day job, posted by a famous recruiter. Recruiters , please stop lining your pockets and do more to help the people who give you a living. Without us, you are nothing!!!That is at least a 2.6m job for those hours. If the hours were normal, I would'nt say much. That's just ripping people off, if you ask me.

Can we stop being cheap when we look for substitutes?

I know this has been commented on before, but a recent classified ad has really impressed me with its gall, so I figure it's time for a review. If you are offering *just* what you make hourly when trying to find a substitute, you are being cheap and a billion other adjectives that are far less gentle but mostly more suitable.

Anyone know about this job?

Just a word to the wise-someone here keeps posting jobs under the ielts name. It is up there all the time.

This very well and easily could be immigration looking to bust people who are trying to find illegal jobs.

You may think no way and you could be right but this post goes up every week it seems. One states they are

looking for a pilates instructor or something like that and the other one claims they just want to brush up

on their english. Sounds fine but it is being posted every week or second week for the last couple of
