Window to Korean Culture - The 167th Monthly Event

Trip to Hahoe traditional village in Andong

We would like to invite you to our monthly event.

We want to help foreigners to know about Korean culture.

This month we plan the trip to Hahoe village in Andong, the Korean Traditional village.

The village where the members of Ryu family which originated from Hahoe village have lived for 600 years.

We will visit some old beautiful traditional houses there and then Bongjeongsa Temple built in the 7C in the Silla Dynasty as, according to the legend, the Great Buddhist Monk Ui-Sang (625~702) launched from Buseoksa Temple landed on this spot and it has been rebuilt several times during the Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910).

Bongjeongsa Temple is the largest temple in Andong city, and possesses the oldest Korea wooden building Geuknakjeon.

And we will visit Byeongsan Seowon, a Confucian school that was established by esteemed Confucian scholars to pay tribute to the memory of Seong-nyong Ryu (1542-1607), who was well-respected for his writings and personality.
