Busan Daytrippers: Guided Mountain Hikes. Mt. Guemjangsan: Beomeosa.

Date:

Saturday, January 29, 2011 - 10:00
There has been some interest in visiting Beomeosa and as it is my favorite place in the city I am happy to oblige with climb beginning there. We will meet at 10AM at TomnToms Coffee outside Exit 4 at Yeonsan Subway Station (Line 1). From there we will travel to the temple via subway and bus. After visiting the Temple we will climb to the North Gate, a short but steep pathway up a beautiful boulder-strewn wash. Arriving at North Gate we will make a group decision whether to take the "high road" and tackle Go-dang-bong (the highest point in Busan at 801 meters and a worthwhile but strenuous climb) or to take an easy ramble down the "low road" for some lunch at Geumseong village. A third option would be to follow the Eastern fortress wall to South Gate, a longer route with several major elevation changes rewarded by spectacular views. Time constraints (mine) will require that we finish by three so we will adjust our plan as time and energy afford. RSVP at [email protected]
