Interesting perspective. In answer to the thread title though, teaching is something you want to do, it is not done for money or vacation time or benefits but because one wants to teach. If a teacher can live with the salary offered then they go and teach but they should never demand more money, they should never negotiate for large amounts of vacation time or higher paydays (beyond what is offered). And that list could go on...
They should go in and teach, loving their students enough to provide the best education possible no matter the flak they receive from their bosses, their students, and the parents. Then if it still doesn't work, they find a school that fits with their abilities and move on. They certainly do not make a scene, go on strike, come to school drunk or hung over.
Teaching is a gift from God and it should be treated with respect by those who claim to be teachers and who work in the classroom. It is third on the list of importance in the church,(1 Cor. 12: 28) that is how high God regards the field of teaching. Think of how He will deal with those who have treated their students with disdain or some other negative attitude (over a long period of time).
Teachers are some of the most important people for without them there would be no lawyers, no doctors, no business men and so on.
