Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try but......

I still can not fathom how many hogwans still think that they can attract F2 peoples with E2 conditions.

If you want and F2/F5 visa holder you need to provide better condiiton other than a salary carrot! Even is there is enough asperin in the world to teach the precious for 8hours a day but 50 weeks a year? Are you kidding me?

2 weeks vacation?  for someone who is most likely married to a korean national, stable, probably their own housing; chunsaed or paid for in many cases. A person who most likely has been here a minimum three years with that in teaching experience. PLEASE!!!

F2 people, you can do better than this. The salary looks good until you read the fine print(2weeks vacation). I've had 2weeks vacation this month alone with the festival and the mid-term break. Don't lower yourself, do privates if you need too until a college or university opens up.

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

More of the same from another recruiment agency; 2weeks vacation!!!  What is it with these places? Do you really think you can attract F people with this garbage?. Things like 'back home curiculum' which equals more prep and more work and more headaches'?  This is glorified hogwan, worse than a normal hogwan where you just go in and teach and leave.

F  people please, don't fall for this stuff. You are better than this.

ps....please allow this on the main board not tucked away in 'open' forum. Let everyone see how places think they can get away offering things like 2weeks vacation for married, responsible people.

This is in the 'open forum' because that is the category selected by the original poster (you).  I have recategorized it to the 'jobs' forum.  If you are suggesting that comments on job ads should be enabled,  the original decision still stands.

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

I agree Lee. I was talking to Cindy from some place in Seoul, and she was looking for a F2 visa holder to work some FT kindie job for 3mil a month; but, for like 40 hours a week and no housing. I told her no one with a F2 would do this. But that job keeps getting posted.

Recruiters, people with F2 visas usually work in universities or free lance here and there. No one will do a FT job for 3mil a month. I get 5 months of a year at my uni but you offer 10-20 days off a year? F2 means freedom, experience, maturity (well, most times), not ignorant beggar.

I too am tired of seeing "Looking for F2 visa holders" but then offer like 20 bucks an hour. So sick. Go get an illegal teacher if you want to pay less than what full time e2 visa holders make. They work 30 hours a week for 2.2 plus they get housing, bonus, airfare, pension...so figure out how much e2 visa holders get and then come talk to us. A Pt legal teacher means more money-not less. Just a word to the wise.

And as an aside, those who pick out grammar mistakes on posts that are nothing more than rants, thanks for that. That is helpful. We really dont want people to get or comment on the point, we want people to point out grammar mistakes. Brilliant!

Anyway, luckily, my teaching time is coming to an end. Come next june, I am done. I will leave the commenting on poor paying jobs that are intended to help others get more money to, well, others. I always have made good money here so my purpose on posting realities regarding Korea on here was to help others. I hope I did even a bit. Cheers and good luck all!

F2 only means you married a Korean. In the states should we give preference to all people who come only to marry Americans?

You are right, I don't live in busan but this is a national problem not only restricted to Korea's second city or or you that regional in thinking. Post #2; This isn't America windu. And why do I care so much? because you don't.

What the last line of defense when you are losing an argument or arguing for the sake of arguing? Attack spelling and grammar.

Do you have anything intelligent to add to this or is your Busan version of Stockholm syndrome preventing you?  Keep grinding those kindy classes.

I agree with windupbird. LBS wrote "You are better than this." Really? An unqualified F2 is better than a qualified E2? No, just able to work at more than one location without immigration approval.

I'm sorry to see someone like you leave Paul, and I thank you and others that have tried to inform people, educated them in fact that there are individuals and others around that are/will take advantage of people in the foreign community because....they can. It needs to stop and I'm proud of helping a number of people (via email) not get the shaft and not take the abuse one can get teaching here.

What you said about critics was bang on, no one likes them anyway. Teachers get roasted for being; those who can't. Critics are just pieces of shit. The 'spelling and grammar' hit was a good one as well. By the way, I can spell just fine, I simply can't type.

Take care.

You know what is worse though, is when foreigners go on vacation and try to get subs but pay less than they even get paid. 7 hours for 100 a day? The other job on here is very simliar, something like 5 hours for 80 bucks. Over xmas and new years no less.  Not even 15 an hour? Who makes this kind of money here?  Yikes. Merry xmas...lol

it seems that this topic seems to come around here every now and again and always with the same content.  perhaps if it is such a problem someone should join an organization or something.  i really do not think the one or two hundred people that read such posts are in any danger of being taken adavantage of here.  especially if they have such experience, freedom, and maturity.  i do remember hearing several of my married friends comment that when they completed paperwork for the f2 visa those qualities were some of the new life characteristics that immigration informed them would be not only avaible, but forced upon them.  do people actually take the time to call up people and tell them that no one will take their posted jobs?  how amazing that people have so much time on their hands to speak for the unorganized and immature working class who are lacking the proper concept of freedom.  helped out many people by email?  that is very nice of you.  i am sure they all really appreciated it.  perhaps some of those people will share their stories with us.

there is nothing wrong with working in a kindergarten, either

Hi Elmo, I never once initially contacted anyone, they contacted me first via my email.

I'm not going out of my way to help the hopeless or write nasty emails to recruiters etc.. If someone takes the time to write me and ask for my opinion on a job I gladly respond and give it. With a full time job at my university and privates these days I'm kind of limited time wise. You are correct, there is nothing wrong with working at a kindy but who wants to endure that? None of my collegues that's for sure or they would.

There is a reason why these postions either don't get filled or get filled and are up again next week to be filled again? They are shit. I'm just trying to avoid some person from making the mistake of being the bigger fool that takes crap employment unbeknownst to them and ends up wasting their time on drivel. These jobs are barely fit for E2s let alone Fs.

I wonder what critics on this thread do to help the foreign community here, if you took half the energy you use to rip Paul and myself apart you could even assist a person from making a big mistake and taking one of these positions. These are real peoples lives affected by this you know. but you want to attack me and my spelling? my mission is clear, but who are you helping?

I've got privates until 9pm, take care people it's cold tonite dress warmly.

F2: 1) usually means married to a Korean person; 2) someone who is a  little older and been here a little longer 3) someone who has more experience.  If this is wrong please let me know. Ignorance is not bliss, though.

And as for this thread, it is about F-visas and lousy paying jobs. Not sure why anyone would comment about this at all if they do not even have one. Walk a mile, or in this case- 7 years in my shoes and come talk to me about posting comments intended to help or support others. I don't see the problem in helping-I have time. Why do you comment on things Emo? I am not sure why people waste their time bashing others but I guess we all spend our time in different ways. I am okay with that and what I am doing so all good. Cheers!

the point is that people like to go on and on and on about this and that and that f2 visa holders are often the loudest with telling people what is acceptable in the job market.  it happens repeatedly.  i find it quite funny and when someone says that it is a sign of freedom, experience, and  maturity it makes for a good laugh.  if whoever reads this fails to see the hilarity in such and idea, then it was not intended for you.  i personally find whining and/or boasting, in text or person, very funny.  that is why i bother to comment.  bashing is never the intention.  perhaps no one meant to imply that f2 visa holders were more mature than the rest of the people, but that seemed to be the message

you need to learn to read emo. i said people with F2 visas tend to be older and more mature (most of the time...lol). and how does maturity work-as you get older most mature more. you dont get that? maybe you need to grow a little...lol just a joke man.

and i did not say all but everyone i know has kids and so on and are not bar going party people. hey, i did that before. there is nothing wrong with it. i still go out but you seem very defensive with yourself for some reason. not sure why but again, this post was, i thought, simply saying, people need to to stop posting ads looking for F2 visa holders when they pay terribly as people with f2 visas dont work for crappy pay.

is this a stretch for you to understand? people who do crappy jobs like the one posted for 100 a day do not have f2 visas.  you seem insulted but ths post was never about e2 visa peeps or anything you are trying to argue. i dont even get how you got where you did? take it easy man. cheers!

F2 often stands for "I'm unqualified but I married a native chippie so I can get better jobs in less time with fewer hassles at immigration".

Not always, but often.  I can't bring myself to cry for F2s ever.

sweat.  i wouldnt cry for anyone here either. if people with any visa want to take lousy jobs and work like a hobo that is up to them. this was just a post about dumb people looking for people with f2 visas who will work for less than average wage.

as for being married, i am happy i am as those who know me know my wife is amazing in every way but the f2 is a nice bonus to have...lol but i did work here for years with just a e2. and for the record, i had 5 of them over the course of 3 years. i finished just one contract. i didnt take shit from crappy jobs then either so my visa status has nothing to do with looking out for other foreigners. i really dislike people not getting paid like they should or not being treated well. that is just me.

So you have a history of breaking contracts?  I can see why you'd want an F2, then.  I've had 3 jobs in 10 years here, and I've been lucky enough to have relatively decent employers, for the most part, or else crappy employers and excellent job conditions (otherwise).  What seems like bad conditions to some people might be necessary for other people, including F2s.  They may be in trouble and need the money ASAP, which is usually how these jobs get filled.

Oh, and also because they couldn't do any better.  An F2 visa doesn't always equate into a good job.

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

hmmm...why do you feel that an F2 visa entitles you to anything more or some sort of special set of terms and circumstances?  all it means is that you're married to a korean and it possibly holds the employer to less work as it would eliminate the task of obtaining an E2 sponsorship...

myself, i've been an holder of an F4 and then an F2 upon marriage, and i've been completely satisfied with the conditions that have been offered to me from employers in the educational sector.  if you want something more, it may rely on yourself enhancing your qualifications.  i've never had to rely on teaching jobs for a living but only for supplemental funds.  an english teacher in korea isnt really hard to find.  if a school offers what they do and an F2 holder would suit them better for their needs, i don't see any problem with that.  pay and benefits are plainly listed, in most cases, in the hiring ad.  if they're not to one's standards, it would be up to that person contemplating on applying for the position to decide.

i just think it's silly to think that falling in love and being married to a korean woman provides a case of entitlement for anything special....

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

it amazes me that people try to be so 'moral' yet fail to understand the basic purpose of this thread. quite funny, actually. and a f2 does save schools money and gives them peace of mind that they have a legal teacher so that is worth something. if a job is 3 days a week the school can get a teacher and sponser them for a visa but then there is housing, the visa run and so on. an f2 visa holder none of this. and believe it or not, some schools actually do thigns legally so hiring a teacher with an e2 for cheap may not be the way to go for them. but hiring someone with a f2 for the same pay-no thanks. i think that is fair. some dont. that is great as i will take the jobs that pay 35 or 40 an hour and you can take the other ones. i guess that is what makes the world go around .cheers and happy hunting. my last post regarding this. if you cant get it by now you never will so...

just think it's silly to think that falling in love and being married to a korean woman provides a case of entitlement for anything special....

quotes like this are jsut retarded. no one says this. the thread is about schools who look for peopel with f2 visa holders but offer lousy pay. it was written by someone with a f2 visa and i agreed with it. it is a joke schools try to hire f2 visa holders for teh same as those with a e2 visa or those with no visa but are looking for work. if you dont agree with that i guess you dont understnad why schools are looking for people with f-visas in the first place. has nothin to do with being better teachers-it has everything to do with being legal and money. geeze people!

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

@PAUL GAASENBEEK

I completely understand the topic of this thread.  If an F2 is hired legally...that is being reported and registered as an official employee, tax responsibilities are the same as those for hiring an E2.  And if you did read my post, I did mention that hiring an F2 does eliminate some of the tasks that would be required for an E2.  90% of the ads seeking F2 holders are part-timers.  What part-time positions offer housing and everything else that you're referring to?  There are ads for part-time jobs looking for E2 holders as well.  They don't have to provide housing for these individuals, do they?

and let me say this.  i never insult anyone here but only add my two cents.  it seems here you are actually trying to insult me, calling me retarded.  if you want, we can handle this in a more personal manner.  i have no problem with that.

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

the concept that f2 visa holders are more mature and more experienced is false.  age and maturity are not the same thing. f2 visa holders are not older or more mature, either.  in addition, visa status is not tied to experience.

ranting and raving on an internet forum ranks very low in the ways to help people stay clear of 'bad jobs.'  not that many people actually read these forums.  i recall people asking to meet you in person and you refused.  that is so very helpful of you.

with the added experience and maturity, people should not really need any help avoiding jobs.

claiming to have helped many people who have contacted you is even more bizarre.  last time you made such a claim, someone called you out on it.

it just seems rude to harass people who make job postings.

skip the whining and just go straight to not applying for the job.

bashing?  i think not.  plainly, i am just plainly speaking, plainly

The most important question is :Why they would offer shite conditions to anyone in the first place? If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. In summary, the E2s invest buggar all here in the majority, normally send all their cash home and some of it illegally earned cash to.E visas spend nothing by comparison, take, steal every private going when possible. E is for evil and sad transient with no skills, and nothing to offer back home.Don't kid yourselves E visas, F visas get the best jobs for a reason, get the best women for a reason, and ultimately get the best of everything for a reason. F stands for Full on commitment to Korea. We are F for Fantastic, Full time and F-cking Great! E= mc2  easy to make change. You are E for Empty Vessels and we all know the accompanying expression.Anyone who thinks E2s and F2s are the same is plain crazy. There is an interesting coincidence between salary, longeviety, marriage and type of visas. Then again, you think we're F for fools, no doubt.I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Noo spelll checkk here, get knotted.  If you wan to complain about us, fine, walk a day in our shoes, What do you commit to?Money?

Someone above mentioned 'unqualified but married'. That could be true and the visa will get you a job at some joke ass hogwan or if you fudge the resume enough perhaps even a gov't school.

For the people I know; this is not true, not in the least. I didn't show up off the boat, get a korean to marry me in some sort of green card movie swap and invent a college job for myself. I got it because I was qualified according to the school's hiring practices NOT because of a visa. When I first got married and started working at a university I had an E2- F-2-1 visa which the F entitled me to absolutely fucking nothing other than being married and that costing me an extra $30 every year.

People are forgetting that there are in-house rules that deternine if a person is qualified to work at that place. Korean employers may prefer F people these days but it isn't a sure thing because you have tied the knot. Places now want to see official workpapers from previous employers. A person who my school hired initially was let go before he started because he lied on his resume saying he worked 3 years in a college when he only worked two. He actually thought that getting hired in November for the coming March and two years employment equalled three years. Nice try buddy, he gave his notice so he couldn't go back or forward at our place. That's what you get when you lie on your resume these days.

Privates now, I'm glad we are somewhat more civil tonight. Thanks.

Re: Places looking for F-2 visa holders in Busan..(nice try ...

i really think this site should require recruiters and so on to list the school name on their posts as the only person who would do that job is a teacher who is going to do so illegally. no one with a f2 visa would work for 17 an hour.

i am just trying to help out the foreign community here. call me rosa! no way any job for 17 an hour should get posted as it promotes illegal teaching and most importantly-oddly enough, it is cheating people. 30 per class at a minimum people. 17 is a joke. i feel bad for the parents who think this school actually cares about its students. even ft workers get paid about 24 500 per hour when factoring in their bonus, airfare, housing and pension. it is pretty sad when pay after many years is actually going down here-and this is not even factoring in inflation and the terrible exchange. good luck people.
