생림유황오리 is a barbecue duck restaurant that opened Aug. 15, 2014 in Oedong, Gimhae. It is located a short walk from both the Highway 58 intersection and Hanshin Apartments, as well as Jungang Hospital and Top Mart in the opposite direction.
This shoes-off restaurant offers items mostly intended for groups of two or more, but also has a limited menu for solo diners, including a 7,000 won lunch special that includes a generous number of banchan (side dishes).
Gamjatang is a spicy soup consisting of potatoes, pork on the bone and assorted vegetables. It is usually served in a large, family-style portion. Its cousin, Haejangguk ("hangover soup") removes the potatoes and is served in individual portions.
통뼈감자탕 Tong Pye Gamjatang is a popular 24-hour chain in Korea serving both items and more. This location, a shoes-off restaurant, can accomodate large and small parties and is located a five-minute walk from Jungang Hospital and a five-minute walk from the Highway 58 intersection, in Gimhae.
추어탕 is a spicy traditional Korean stew that is made with soybean paste, red pepper paste and mudfish (an eel-like fish) that are blended together and mixed with broth and vegetables. Fresh garlic and ground spicy peppers can be added for extra flavor. 소담추어탕 is a shoes-off, family-owned restaurant that offers plenty of space for large parties, as well as a generous variety of side dishes. It's located across the street from Jungang Hospital (중앙병원) in Oedong, Gimhae.
A gimbap chain that has widely expanded recently and is considered by many to be the best gimbap available in South Korea. Prices on these generously-filled gimbap range from 2,000 won for the basic, 2,500 won for the basic with a slice of processed cheese, 2,800 won for popular gimbap like tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and chamchi (tuna), to 3,500 won for say-yu (shrimp). Other regular menu items include Soondooboo Jjigae (soft tofu stew), Tteokpoki and Tonkatsu. Some items, like their bibimbap, rotate out of the menu depending on season.
Lankon Muong is a Thai restaurant in the "shinae" section of Gimhae serving various traditional Thai dishes including Kuay Teow (Thai rice noodles) for 5,000, as well as the Thai-style shabushabu set for 29,000.
A traditional Indian restaurant serving familiar dishes including tandoori chicken, daal, chicken makhani, lamb vindaloo and several curries. Located on the third floor, above the Naganyk Russian restaurant and adjacent a Unionbay and Kimbap Chungook.

Family-owned restaurant in the Oedong section of Gimhae. Offering a selection of reasonably-priced standard Korean dishes like Kimchi Jjigae and Soondooboo, as well as 두루치기-marinated pork just like bulgogi but with spicy sauce. Generous amount of side dishes.
As of February 2013, I have been teaching ESL in South Korea. I spent my first year in Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. As of March 2014, I have been living and teaching in adjacent Gimhae, which is connected to Busan via a lightrail station about a 20-minute walk from my apartment, which I am buying a couch for soon. For the apartment, not the lightrail station.
A multicultural hub in the "Shinae" section of Gimhae, Tong Cafe is where you can find the Gimhae Food Town map. Order a lemon tea (3,000 won) or an Americano (2,500 won), which one of the baristas will ask if you want regular or "strong." You can also watch the ultra slow "Dutch Coffee" process in action, as well as purchase a small (5,000 won) or large (10,000 won) bottle to enjoy at home.
