What do foreigners think of PSY (Korea Blown Out Of Proportion)

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/thesilkroad.tv Twitter: https://twitter.com/thesilkroadtv WANT MORE?? (http://thesilkroad.tv/) Britney Spears has done it. Ban Ki Moon has done it. Yes, it's possible your own mother has done it as well. Gangnam Style has taken the world by storm this past summer and still continues to be firmly entrenched in pop culture. While relatively obscure globally prior to Gangnam Style, Psy (whose real name is Park Jae-sang), has been entertaining audiences since 2001. His debut album, From the Pyscho World!, set him apart from the rest of the K-pop sphere. Instead of the typical ballads sung by other members of YG Entertainment (the record label that represents Psy), his work is often characterized as quirky, light-hearted, yet relevant to modern Korean culture. Songs like Bird, Right Now, and Gangnam Style poke fun at what Psy perceives as increasing materialism in South Korea. His witty lyrics and over-the-top videos have struck such a chord internationally that he is set to perform at the MTV European Music Awards. However, he is no stranger to receiving or being nominated for awards as he has won 15 music awards prior to 2012. As the first Korean artist to attain international acclaim, Psy's success may truly be an indicator of things to come from other aspiring Korean artists.
