Deoksu by Day... Gyeongbok at Night

Jo and I continue our weekly tradition of venturing out to Seoul on Wednesday. This week, our destination took us deep into the palace district (as I like to call it) and to Deoksugung and Gyeongbokgung. Visiting both these palaces would round out Jo's visit to all five grand palaces in Seoul, but would also mark our first purchase of the new all-inclusive ticket allowing access to Gyeongbokgung, Deoksugung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, and The Jongmyo Royal Shrine. It's a sweet deal for only 10,000원. The entrance fee to Changdeokgung (and the Secret Garden is 8,000원). The visit was also special, since Seoul was pulling out all the stops for last week's G20 Summit. As a result the Cultural Heritage Administration that Gyeongbok would be open at night- the first time it would be open to the public since its construction in 1395. We spent the day at Deoksugung, but as life would have it, I had to head back to Dongtan and do that thing called work. So I missed the nighttime event. Jo did not. Here's our video excursion featuring daytime video of Deoksugung (by yours truly) and nighttime images by Jo of Gyeongbok Palace. Music, used with permission
