This glimpse of North Korea’s film industry illustrates how governments manipulate media, to get out the official line. Only, in Pyongyang the media technology is quite old-fashioned. In the era of Facebook and Twitter, these lucky North Korean film school students, the pampered kids of North Korea’s elite, just sound embarrassing, with all their adoration of Kim Jong-il and the conviction, that their state is a utopia.
