So, its been raining for the last 5 days here in South Korea and I’m starting to feel a little bummed to say the least. At first, it was a welcome break and an excuse to get a lot of work done, but now it’s just ridiculous! Here it is Tuesday morning and it’s grey, rainy and depressing outside. I wish the weather didn’t affect mood as much as it does. If you’re feeling this way too, don’t worry! Here are some tips on how to curb your raining day feeling!
First of all, put on some music! Pick out your favorite upbeat song (That’s right UPBEAT. In know all of my emo friends out there will struggle with this but trust me!) Turn up the volume, dance and sing along! Not only should this put you in a better mood, but if you do actually dance (and I do!) you’re sneakily (yeah, that’s a word) adding some cardio into your day. As you know this releases those excellent and much-needed endorphins to make you feel great fast!
Next, it’s June, and if you live in the Northern Hemisphere it should be summer time! We should be getting outside and breathing in the fresh air. The rain has seriously thwarted these plans though, so the next best thing is to either suck it up and hang out in the rain anyway (I have to admit this is one of my favorite pastimes) or bring the outdoors to you! If you’re not psyched on getting cold and wet just to enjoy a bit of Mother Nature at least go down to your local store and buy yourself some flowers. Seriously, it’ll brighten up your house/apt., make you feel better and they smell good Plus, plants of any kind will freshen and clean the air in your house!
Ok, the last thing is GET OUT OF YOUR HOUSE! Rainy days tend to make me want to curl up in a ball and do nothing. This is OK if you are watching a movie or relaxing at the end of the day, but a whole day of this will more than likely only enhance the rainy day feeling of gloom. So, make plans, call a friend for dinner, grab your umbrella and go out! There is nothing better than a night with friends to elevate your mood! Chances are they are feeling the same rainy day blues as you, so get rid of that bad mood by having a great time and laughing in the sullen face of the rain
On that note I leave you with a little pick-me-up! In my experience you either hate Jack Black or you love him. Well, I am in the latter group and if you are not then skip the video, but I have to say this always puts me in a good mood! Jack Black got it right by embracing his Monday Morning. I encourage you to do the same and embrace this rainy day
