Initially, they claim to be University students whilst first meeting the potential companion. They boast of great wealth and travel. The language exchange is one of their favorite options.

Pension protocols

Hi, I'm hoping someone can clarify how pension works for English teachers (US citizens).

My boyfriend and I work together, but we have different salaries. We noticed the deductions for pension on our payslips were the same amount, and that amount is lower than either of our salaries. So, we asked why this was, since pension deductions should be 4.5% of our salary.

The Korean staff member who deals with all issues related to the foreign staff gave us the following explanation:

Spending habits here?

I was wondering how much you might spend on Korean goods vs Imported. I was wondering where you shop for various items? Do you use Internet sites, shop or go directly to the source ie farmers market? I tend to buy Korean goods eg phones, cars and pcs. I feel buying Korean is important to me. I also believe in promoting Korean goods while I live and earn a living here is important. I think people have various opinions on this.

Clarification on domestic helpers in Korea

Hi there,

I'm looking for some clarification.

1) Can filipinos apply to be domestic workers in Korea? Is it legal? Which visa does that fall under?

2) Do they need to have an employer first before applying for visa?

3) If entering Korea on a tourist visa and then working illegally as a helper what are the implications?

4) What is the pay like for filipinos as a domestic helper.
