Charity Art Auction @ Roofers

Date:

Sunday, May 16, 2010 - 13:30
From: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=114385725241844 Hi Everyone We are delighted to announce that The Right Hon. Mr. Steven Brunton will once again be donning his pink fluffy ears and irreverent wit to take centre stage at our next Art Auction, which will take place on May 16th at Roofers in Itaewon (to whom we'd very much like to extend a very big thank-you for agreeing to let us take over their space for the entire day). This time we’re teaming up with Hongik's Gregory Stock, his lovely Lao wife Phoymany "Poy" Senesomkhith and some of her Lao friends and will be splitting monies raised at this auction between our orphanage in Thailand and a small, rural and very needy school in Laos as detailed below: 1. Baan Unraak ( www.baanunrak.org) is a community development project in Sangklaburi, Thailand , close to the border with Burma and is home to the many refugees who have fled war, forced labor, poverty and general terrible living conditions in that country.

Invisible Children - Africa's Longest War, Documentary @ Roofers

Date:

Sunday, May 2, 2010 - 16:30
From: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=108163865883829 In the spring of 2003, three young filmmakers traveled to Africa in search of a story. What started out as a filmmaking adventure transformed into much more when these boys from Southern California discovered a tragedy that disgusted and inspired them, a tragedy where children are both the weapons and the victims. After returning to the States, they created the documentary "Invisible Children: Rough Cut," a film that exposes the tragic realities of northern Uganda.s night commuters and child soldiers. The film was originally shown to friends and family, but has now been seen by millions of people. The overwhelming response has been, "at ROOFERS How can I help?" To answer this question, the non-profit Invisible Children, Inc. was created, giving compassionate individuals an effective way to respond to the situation.
