The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world! Koreans love soccer, so it's no surprise that the country has participated in seven World Cups, and even hosted the tournament in 2002. This summer, Korea will once again come together to support the national team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Go Reds!
In 2002, South Korea made it all the way to the semifinals, and the whole nation cheered. But even when the event is held far away, as it was in 2006, all of Seoul comes to a standstill for the games. Hundreds of thousands of fans filled the plazas in Seoul to watch live TV broadcasts of the matches.
