Aile Mediterranean Restaurant requests menu input

The good folks at Aile Mediterranean Restaurant in Kyungsungdae (Busan) plan to revamp their menu this summer and would appreciate any feedback, requests, & suggestions.

For those who have eaten there, are there any favorites you want to make sure stick around and/or dishes that aren't on the menu that you'd like to see?

Found at Costco: roast turkey and baby spears of asparagus.

My news: Costco has fresh organic BABY asparagus, beautiful small thin spears for 10,000 won per 1/2 kilo.  Look for the packages with the pencil-like spears.

Blanch them quickly in boiling water, cool, squirt a little mayo on them and then wrap them in a thin slice of ham. (when you eat them you suddenly are able to speak French) or wrap them in a slice of Meunster or Havarti (Costco)  and a ham slice, then broil them until the cheese starts to melt. Make a sandwich with sliced avocado and mayo.

Make your own yoghurt or sour cream. DON'T buy it!

About three years ago I bought a small bottle of this 5-culture yoghurt starter and had it mailed to me. I use about a liter of yoghurt a week but I still have about 1/2 the starter left. The small bottle (1 1/4 teaspoons) cost $15.

I discovered that EASYYO packages as starters were much to temperature sensative.. even using a digital thermometer, I got very inconsistant results.

Yes, you can use the small tubs of Denmark plain yoghurt for a starter, but this is MUCH easier and healthier, and even cheaper.

AileTurkish Restaurant and well created food. NOW CLOSED. 12/2011

-----------------

I have eaten at Aile several times now. I also have hosted a lunch for a half-dozen professors of various foreign languages from my university. We all enjoyed the food and thought that it was artfully created.

The Chef, Fausto, is married with  Kim Guk Bun, "Victoria", who he met in Italy when she was there studying cooking and restaurant management. He, also, was studying and cooking, the pair of them for 8 years.

Vegemite in Busan?

My boyfriend the Aussie is in dire need of some Vegemite and I haven't found any yet. Does anyone know where I can find some here in Busan? I don't want to go to Seoul just to get some for him... Marmite would be an acceptable substitute. Thanks!

Homemade Mexican food delivered to your door. Created by Mexicans!

I have been savoring the "real" taste of Mexico lately by ordering food delivered to me. You pay COD (or by bank transfer), so leave enough money with your apartment guards to cover the bill. Be sure to add a few thousand won to cover the delivery fee.

You can order from two different ladies.  You can order from both by email or phone.

As far as I know, neither speaks English, but both speak Korean (and Spanish).

Tea Group & Blog

*sets down soapbox, and steps up on it* *agha ghem*

One of my hobbies here is tea. Once a month or more I go tea shopping in Nampodong and over the summer I bring my portable tea set and do the picnic thing. If anyone is interested in doing a monthly Sunday tea (when the weather warms up some), do check us out on Facebook. Events will be posted there as well as shopping info, maps etc.

On Facebook the group is called:

Busan Tea Cozies.
