I have been travelling in Central and South America for 5 months straight, and I've only met 2 Korean backpackers. I meet people everyday, lots of Aussies, English, Kiwi, American, Canadian, European, Japanese and South American travellers too... but I keep wondering where all the Koreans are.
The first two Koreans I met were both backpacking alone, and I met them both in Medellin, Colombia. After them, I hadn't met/seen any Korean travellers until 2 days ago, when I met YoungJu in my hostel in Buenos Aires. I find it interesting that many of my Korean friends are interested in travel, but I don't meet very many Koreans at all when I travel. Even when I travelled in Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, I only met one or two Korean backpackers then, too.
I asked YoungJu if he wanted to make a candid video talking about what the possible reasons for this could be, and luckily he agreed. I am glad to have a chance to speak Korean again! Although, as you can see in the video, I am forgetting a lot of vocabulary and how to make sentences... learning and using Spanish on this trip has started to confuse me.
What started as a concept video turned more into a casual conversation between two travellers. I hope you like it, and I hope you like meeting YoungJu.
See you in the next video!
PS. I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)
P.P.S. I thought you´d like to know that GANGNAM STYLE is playing in the internet cafe where I am editing this video. oh korea, you´re everywhere! |
