Seoul is one big shopping centre

Thursday 26th May, 2011

I would describe Seoul as one huge shopping centre. To be honest, they're not that big on tourism.Yet. I'm sure they will accommodate this better in the future. For example, they don't make it easy for people on strollers or wheelchairs. Especially in the subway station. There's not alot of public toilets; and for some reason, the Koreans can't see where there going!!! We had so many of them trip over us, bump into us. I just don't think they are that smart when it comes to being aware of their surroundings.

Emma was feeling better, so we thought we'd take a walk to Myeong-Dong Markets. Because we got there when they opened (around 10am) shopping here was a great experience. There was hardly anyone around, so we could take our time going through the clothes racks and there was no lineup for the dressing rooms. It was as if the store had just opened for us two, almost like we had the rockstar treatment lol.

We ended up doing really well and we soon realised it was already 1pm. We were having such a great time, the day had just flown, so we grabbed our bags, stopped to have a quick lunch and made our way back to our hostel to pick up our bags. We caught a cab to Seoul Station (we were going to use the subway, but we had to much weight to carry, so the cab was more convenient) and had around an hour to wait for our train. It was a good idea we bought our return tickets on Monday because the queue was so long.

As we prepared to board of train destined for Changwon I thought to myself, what a full on 4 days. I had some wonderful experiences in Seoul and I'm glad I was able to visit the city while living in Korea. I will be heading back to Sydney next week and at this stage I don't know if I will come back. It all depends on work. That will determine our next adventure.

We safely arrived back in Changwon at 7.30pm on the dot. I like the KTX Train. It runs on time!!!The weather however was the complete opposite to Seoul. We were getting burnt with 30 degree days, while Changwon had been raining for the past 4 days. Barry picked up us from the station and dropped me back at my hotel. Daniel was already waiting for me and I got to show him all my shopping.

The next few days, I will be busy packing and sending home boxes and preparing myself for my trip back home. It's going to be good to see my family and my dogs. How I've missed them!!!

  • Note* I'm unsure at this stage how long I will be in Sydney. If you would like me to blog about Sydney sights, them please email or leave me a comment. There is a lot to see and do in Sydney, if you haven't been there already, so I would love to write about what a great holiday destination my home is.
