Hedgehogs and much more surprises!

Monday 11th May, 2011

Well I'm trying to keep busy not that I'm on my own here. I'm get sad about it, but I know it won't be for much longer. I've started a health regime, which consists of eating healthier, cycling to the gym in Changwon, which takes me between 40 and 60 minutes, depending on the time of day I go. I then cycle back after my gym session, getting lunch along the way. Lunch these days is either a sushi roll or a chicken salad, which you can buy from Emart, Lotter Mart or Homeplus stores.

Over the weekend, Daniel and I have been discussing where we should go for our next R & R. We decided Spain would be our next stop. Beautiful Spain. Daniel has been once before with work, but I never have. He fell in love with the city and tells me how grand it is. So this morning I book our accommodation in Madrid. We will be staying in Madrid for 4 days, then train it to Barcelona, where we will stay for a few days. From there, we will hire a car and drive back to Madrid to catch our flight back to Korea. We will be stopping in little small towns and get a real taste of countryside Spain. I can't wait! Mum and Dad have told me so much about Spain, as they went there on holidays when they were young. It'll be great to experience what they have. I also booked in our Toledo day tour and organised our tickets to go see a bullfight at the Plaza De Toros.

After confirming everything, I packed my bag and started heading to the gym. I had a good workout today. I quite like going to the gym during the day. There's noone there! The gym only costs W5,000 for a casual visit and has all the latest equipment. It has squash courts, weight machines, treadmills and one of those vibrating muscle machines.

After my workout, I cycled over to the Lotte Mart and Emart to get some lunch. I can never go past the shops without stopping at the pet section. I love the pets here. You can buy dwarf rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, mice, gerbils, turtles, lizards and my beloved hedgehogs. I must've come at a good time, because all the animals were active. It must've been feeding time. Lady luck was on my side today because up until today, I had never had the opportunity to see the little hedgehogs tiny faces; and today, here I was looking at two of them! They were out of their hut and eating lunch! I couldn't believe it. I pulled out my camera (I never travel anywhere without) and started taking photos and also recording them. One of the hedgehogs was a little camera shy and he went back inside and hid, but the other one stayed outside and walked around and had abit of a scratch. They are truly the cutest thing I've ever seen. I was in Love. I wish I was allowed to bring one back to Australia, but due to the custom laws I'm not allowed. After getting my hedgehog fix, I found myself wondering into the clothes and shoes department.... I know I was only going in quickly to buy lunch, but here I was at the cash register, holding two pairs of shoes and a really cute poncho cardigan. I am so bad at this haha!

I finally made it to the groceries and got myself a frozen chicken curry. I also found, what I think is jelly, in kiwi and peach flavour. Hope it tastes good!

On the way back, I almost got run over by a bus. On some parts of the road, the bike trail on the footpath ends and you have to ride onto the road for a short distance until the footpath trail starts up again. I saw the bus in the distance, but I thought I'd make it before he got to the stop.... how wrong was I. He must've really sped up because as I was about the turn, he fricken beeped at me, which totally freaked me out!!! and made me wobble abit on my bike. Even though I was riding right on the side of the kerb, I stopped and let him over take me. I just thought to myself 'OK Tahnee, don't ever do that again' You've got to have a million eyes, and have all your senses in action when you travel on the roads here. In fact, in any Asian country!

After arriving home in one piece, I got changed as I was going to met Daniel back at the gym as I wanted to go buy a new pocket size digital camera. I wanted to get one of those self shot cameras, which I think only Samsung make at the moment. I figured it would make my solo adventures easier for me to take photos of myself and would be ideal for us to get the perfect one handed photos in Spain. After having a good look, I found my new Samsung VLUU PL 171 Digital Camera in Purple. My favourite colour :) I can't wait to try it out.
