Flying to China

Saturday 17th September, 2011

Today is the day, I'm making a move to China for the next two months. At this stage it's not permanent, as It's likely I'll be home for Christmas.

I'm alittle nervous about going, as It will be so different to Korea. My girl group is no longer, it's a different language all together and my surroundings are going to be all new. So it feels like I'm starting from scratch again.

It was really sad saying good bye to my parents, but I knew that once I cross the other side of customs, everything feels better as I'm now well and truly on my way.

My flight would take me to Hong Kong and then I would continue onto Beijing. Daniel and his driver would be waiting for me at the terminal, ready to pick me up. Like any flight, it was long and tiring, you'd think I'd be getting used to this by now, but I finally made it to Beijing just after 10.30pm the same day.

It was good to see a Daniels' familiar face when I landed.

We soon reached the car, packed my luggage onboard and away we were, heading to the city of Tianjin, which is about a 2hour car ride. Not looking forward to this... Especially since on hour of driving around the airport, our driver seemed to be lost. We couldn't understand how he kept missing the exit. Daniel clicked the shits and started directing him how to get out of the area and he can't even speak or read Chinese!!! LOL

Finally... somehow, who knows how, we managed to get onto the correct highway and NOW we were heading to Tianjin....

Now I've been told how bad Chinese traffic is but nothing could have prepared me for the huge trucks that passed by with only centimetres separating to two vehicles. Or the overturned truck on the highway, with the driver and a few other people standing there looking and scratching their heads. It boggles the mind and you can't begin to comprehend how the truck got into that situation. I decided it was best to close my eyes and think happy thoughts.

I have no idea what time it was now, but we made it back to the hotel in Tianjin, TEDA. This will be my new home for the next couple of months.

It's been a long day for me, so tomorrow I'll have a better look and describe it better.

Here's to a good sleep.... No wait... FIREWORKS?!?! What the hell???? FIREWORKS at 4am. you've got to be kidding me...
