So the other day I decided to wander around E-mart and discovered this awesome “kit” in the grocery section to make Sparkling Lipton Tea! Ok it is nothing AMAZING, but it is a clever idea… clever enough to get me to spend around 5,000 won anyway.
The packet included a bottle of Lipton peach iced tea and a bottle of Chilsung Cider (This cider is all over Korea and is the alt to Sprite here.. tastes kinda the same too) together in a happy little case with handles PLUS you got a free drinking bottle as well. SOLD.
Unfortunately the happy package turned out to be a total nightmare, the cardboard they used was too cheap and thin to support the weight of both bottles… so when we carried it home using the handlebars it ripped and the soda went rolling. UGH how could they not check that or reinforce the handle with some plastic or something so it did not give out like that? Anywaaaay... We made it home and set to work with the difficult task of making this drink!
According to the box, 2/3 of the glass/bottle/pitcher should be tea, and you finish the final 1/3 off with the cider… so it just adds a bit of bubble and flavor to the sweat tea. Pretty straightforward huh?
The result was~ Pretty good!! It tasted a lot like a Long Island Iced Tea minus the liquor! It was a bit sweat since the Lipton tea was already super sweet, but we just loaded the drink with some ice and it was very nice. The “Kit” of course is not necessary at all, you can make this drink with any sweat tea and cider or sprite-type cola~ I found that is is a really nice drink for company though! I just pour the tea in a pitcher, slice a lemon, and add a portion of cider and it feels kinda fancy for just some bottle drinks ♥ ♥
After googling I realized they actually sell packaged “Sparkling Tea” from Lipton in a variety of flavors… I have not come across them here or ever tried them when I lived in the states, so I cant say if this tastes the same. Its a basic idea though, so maybe? haha
