Seong Mountain Sunrise Festival

The best place on the island for concerts, mounted police parades, a children’s festival, a flea market and, of course, the sunrise. Watch a countdown on December 31st, a torchlight show, a concert, campfire and traditional shamanic ritual. On January 1st, every fisherman in every port will turn their lights on and sound whistles to ring in the new year. There are orange eating contests, plays, jazz performances and a food market. It gets windy on the mountain, so dress warmly and bring something to keep your belly warm (hot coffee or tea is suggested, but surely soju will work just as well). 
Where:  At Seogwipo on Jeju Island, on top of Seong Mountain’s Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchulbong). (From the airport, take a city bus to the intercity bus terminal, then a bus toward Donghoe Road. Get off in about an hour at the entrance of Seongsan Ilchulbong).
