Moving Day! ....ergh

Hi,

I'll be moving within the city soon and need to rent movers or a truck for a few hours. Any recommendations? I've heard "bongo trucks" are an easy option, except I don't quite know how to go about getting a "bongo truck" movers. Also, the thing is that a) I'll be paying for this myself, so I'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. I wont mind moving the stuff myself into/out of the van. Also, it'll need to be a 3-4 stop trip (buying other stuff from scattered sellers.)

also, is renting my own "bongo truck" for the day an option? i have an international driver's license, though I've been here for 2 years now... (I've heard that the IDL's only good for one year. blerg)

So yeah- anyone with exp. in this area here would be awesome

Re: Moving Day! ....ergh

Have you tried asking any of the Koreans at your school? Koreans always seem to know 'somebody with a bongo van'. They are almost always significantly cheaper as well. I paid about 100 bucks for the first time I moved which is one truck full. Since then I have paid at least 500 bucks for regular movers as my apartments and possessions have grown.

You could try just wondering around one of the larger apartment complexes in your neighbourhood as there is usually somebody moving in or out on any given day of the week, usually mornings, and look for one of the guys there.

Incidentally if the 'extra' stuff you need to pick up on the way is stuff such as washing machines and refrigerators don't bother, these guys will always deliver as part of their service, so don't incur that extra cost on yourself.

As far as I know you can't hire trucks for the day, but maybe be able to get a minivan. Just speculating here, so don't quote me on that.

thanks for the info. I got a number from someone on Koreabridge who might be able to accommodate...ergh.

about the stuff, they're used from KB, so no delivery option available.
