Egg Nog Gotta Get Me Some!

Egg nog cravings have started. Any idea where I can get some here in Busan? I'm presuming I'm looking too early so where did they have some available last year? If I can't get some in the next 2 weeks I'll risk buying eggs even though I've heard the horror stories of the 'fake eggs' that are out there.

Re: Egg Nog Gotta Get Me Some!

After almost 5 years of living here, I have yet to encounter a single drop of Egg Nog in Busan (I'm assuming Seoul gets flooded with barrels of Egg Nog via the Military base, Prohibition-era style).  If there is some secret underground society that knows the location of Egg Nog, I want in.

Also..."fake eggs"??  WTF?

Re: Egg Nog Gotta Get Me Some!

Healthy and Great Eggnog

Beat 4 eggs together.

Heat up 3 cups of milk with sugar (1/2 cup+) or sweetener and vanilla to taste. Also, add 2-3 tbsp. cornstarch for thickening. Make it boil for one minute. Turn off the heat.

Take 1/2 cup of the hot mixture and slowly whisk it into the eggs.

Whisk the resulting egg mixture into the hot milk very slowly. This will create a custard. You must do this slowly or it will clump up. Very important to be patient here.

Add 1 cup of cold milk.

Put in the fridge for 6 hours and add nutmeg for flavor (keeps a couple of days).

I make this every year. It's pretty good stuff..and it's cooked to kill the nasties.

They definitely have it at the Seamens club if you go there for Christmas. Maybe you could try and persuade them to sell you a bottle.
