Lounge Bar

Hello everyone,

I will be moving to Korea in September, and will get married on October 2nd with a traditional ceremony. However, I do not want my party to be over after just an hour or so, so I was looking for a nice lounge bar or something like that in Busan to have an after-party for my guests, mostly coming from abroad. I know there's plenty of places to go to in Haeundae, but can anyone suggest somewhere not too loud and crowded, where it would be possible to have a conversation while drinking and possibly dance too?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Re: Lounge Bar

How many people and between what times. Since it's a Saturday, a lot of places would be obviously fairly busy, but if it was late afternoon or early evening I can think of a few places that might open early for you and lay on some finger food as well at a pre agreed price. Of course I am just speculating here and could be wrong, but business is business.

Re: Lounge Bar

I would say some 20 to 25 people, and we wouldn't need the place all by ourselves of course; I just wanted to book a table and mainly have drinks and enjoy some good music. This would be after dinner, I would say no earlier than 9:30 or 10 pm.

I read about 24/7 on BusanHaps, do you think that could be a choice?

Re: Lounge Bar

after our wedding here we went to the sea cloud hotel. we rented a room. was very nice/big. to rent for a month it cost 5grand so not poor looking. we set up a bar behind the island in the kitchen. great views. had a blast. you could easily hire a couple of students to pour drinks and walk around the floor. cost you like 5-7bucks an hour for them. you could easily make room for dancing to if you wanted.  sadly, there are no foreign bars here that can handle something like this. not sure about any korean bars but... it cost us a bit of money-it was an open bar and the room was not cheap, but the party itself was great. was about the same size you were talking about. i just thought that maybe the rock, nroll bar could do this. it overlooks the beach. it is long. you probably could reserve half the bar for your guests. not sure tho. tough when you are talking about wantinga lounge in busan for an after wedding party. i wouldnt want to be mingling with strangers at a bar and i am not sure what exactly you are looking for so hard to help but there you have it anyway. good luck.

Re: Lounge Bar

24/7 could be a possiblility. It's a pretty cool bar and from what I understand the owners are Western friendly. I guess it depends on what you could over them in terms of takings compared to a regular Saturday night. I only went there for the Busan Haps launch party, so not sure what it's like on a 'normal' night.

The people at Busan Haps might be able to give you a contact.

Re: Lounge Bar

@Paul: Your idea sounds very good; we'll definitely give it some thought, although I must say we're not worried about mingling with strangers... all we want to do is have a drink and chat and possibly dance. We'll check rock'n'roll too, just in case. Thank you! :)

@tharp42: thank you, we'll check out Sharky's too :)

@mattsid: I live in China right now and for some reason I cannot access the busanhaps website, but I did pick up the magazine at the airport, might as well send them a mail or something. Thank you!

Re: Lounge Bar

Sharkeys?  It is way too small. Not the place for a wedding party. I am not sure about the Sea Cloud but Rock and Roll bar seems like the better choice. Pool tables, Phoenix dart boards, nice couches and so on to sit on plus bigger and room to dance. In Haeundae that would be my choice. The other thing about RNR bar is they usually have great drink specials. Going into the one corner with your gang would be a lot of fun there. It is long with one end being more loungy. I would check there.

Re: Lounge Bar

Thanks Jay... if all these bars are within walking distance, we might as well spend an evening checking them all out! :)

Re: Lounge Bar

247 is actually a great option,  (though I would pay to watch Tharp tear his skin off cause it's kindof a turn on) if you can get the music problem worked out-- its got great seating, very cool layout, pool and darts. The manager's name is James if you need his number drop me a line, he speaks great English and I am sure he will do whatever you like.

But you better cater on your own, menu is a little spotty.

Sharky's is good if not crowded and Geckos gives you the option of indoor and outdoor seating right on the beach.

Re: Lounge Bar

I went to 24/7 once (Busan Haps party) and wanted to tear my skin off.  If you want to go to a place where you want to have a conversation this is not the place.  When I was there they blared terrible terrible hip hop music and deafening levels.  It was awful.

I'd suggest Sharky's in Haeundae.  It's a bit small but may be perfect.

Re: Lounge Bar

I hope Griff doesn't read this, he was spinning that night. haha

Re: Lounge Bar

Yes, all the bars mentioned and the hotel are all within minutes of each other. Another place you may want to check out is Thursday Party in Haeundae. It is just up from the beach-walking distance again, and has a nice deck so you can enjoy being outside as well as a being inside. Only place mentioned you can do this-aside from Geckos. Geckos is cool but pricy. Have fun and good luck.,

Re: Lounge Bar

Thank you all! We'll go check all these places out during the Chuseok break, hopefully we'll even get to meet some of you there!
