"Happy Start" program...and visa question

Just got my F-6 visa during a trip to Japan, but now my wife tells me that if I attend a government program called "Happy Start", I can get my visa extended to two years rather than one. Has anybody done this program? Is it held in English?... Also, my (Korean) wife may be transfered overseas for her job temporarily--maybe 6 months to a year. Will it mess up my visa status if I join her during that period? Thanks, Eric

Re: "Happy Start" program...and visa question

I have never heard of that program but who knows???  I suggest calliing immigration :)  My F visa was good only for 1 year when I first got it.  Then they extend it for 2 years the next time you go in.  You will need your wife here and with you to go back in to immigration to extend your visa, at least they made me drag her down there.

Thanks. I tried calling. The woman I talked to didn't actually know! So she gave the number of the program director here in Pusan. I called it and got a lenthy session of elevator music, followed by a recorded message which told me (in Korean of course) that the person was not available and to call back later... ; )
