Hello Everyone!
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to rent bikes from the green U-bike stations. Can foreigners rent these bikes, and if so how? If not, is it possible to have a Korean friend get a Mybi card and then give it to us? Thanks for the help!
Re: Renting U-Bikes
Hello Hamesworth,
Are you talking about the bike rental system in Changwon? I am told Haeundae has one, too.
The Chosun recently had an article about the bikes: http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2012/04/03/2012040301241.html
I will see if my students, some of whom are from Changwon, know. When you do get answers, please post them here.
Re: Renting U-Bikes
If it is just a case of using your MyBi card you don't need a Korean friend. Just walk into any convenience store such as Family Mart and ask for one then give it to them and say how much you want to charge on it.
Re: Renting U-Bikes
There are bikes in Haeundae. My Korean friend told me that you had to register online before you could use your card at the machine.
Re: Renting U-Bikes
Well here is the site to join up. It's all in Korean and there is a foreigner option to enter your details. After entering your name(capital letters, no spaces, surname first). Click the button that says 휴대폰 something and you will get a passcode sent to your phone.
Then enter all of your personal details.
However...
For some reason when I went to confirm everything it came back with an error code. But, this is not the first time I've had a problem joining a site that my friends have no problems joining.
Worth a try to see if it's just me or something wrong with the site or the 'foreigner' option.
By the way. It only seemed to work with Internet Explorer
Edit: Update. Just tried it with my friend's ARC number and got the same result. Will have to see if Koreans are experiencing the same problem.
