Alright, I'm not a woman, but here's my take on your questions. (I'm also drawing from my girlfriend's experiences).

Re: How safe do you feel in South Korea?
I have been here for 3 1/2 years...
My laptop was stolen in my first week, it didnt give me the best first impression, but it was only coincidence as I've never felt safer. I've also learned that the unpleasantness on the subways and buses aren't how koreans really are....They've either been working all day and have to ride the subway 20min+ home, or they have just woken up and have to go to work or school.
Fair enough. :) Korea is a very safe place. Especially Busan, considering it's 4 million people.
Re: How safe do you feel in South Korea?
My car was broken in to the other day but only change was taken. 8 years on and that is it. I went through the toll once and paid 10000 instead of 1000 and a week later i got 9000 in the mail. Safe as hell here. I was wondering though how safe people felt about getting paid on time and receiving all of their pay, bonus and so on. This is where Korea gets unsavory I think. It could be anything from over charging you for moving or cleaning fees, not paying your pension or bonus, paying you some of your pay and the other half later, schools going under...
