Buying a Gas BBQ Grill online.

Anyone know where to find an American style bowl shaped BBQ grill in Korea?

Re: Buying a Gas BBQ Grill online.

There are plenty on sites such as gmarket and auction. What's your price range? They seem expensive compared to the charcoal burning ones. The round shaped charcoal ones are a lot cheaper! But, can post a few links based on what you're willing to spend.

Sky's the limit, m8.  Let's see what you got.

I specifically mentioned online as I thought there were some non-Costco, GMarket-type online stores out there in Korea that specifically carry American-style BBQ grills and cookware.

Re: Buying a Gas BBQ Grill online.

I always use Naver shopping to search as it searches all the online sites. Cheapest I found is this.

There are plenty of other models available with more features and accessories, but at higher prices. I just used the search term gas barbecue grill (가스바베큐그릴) and searched prices from low to high. (click on button 낮은가격순) to put them in price order. Need to scroll down 10 pages or so to get to the barbecues themselves as opposed to accessories.

I wonder how the propane hookup would work on an American grill since I haven't really seen large propane tanks readily available here.

Probably easier to use the Asian style with the small gas canisters.

An online search shows that 3 and 5 and 10kg bottles are available

and since it's LPG I guess LPG stations might also sell it.

I've also seen trucks with propane and butane gas on the back. around town. So there are definitely places selling.

May not be big enough, but did you see this BBQ?

Takes the small cannisters you can get in any supermarket.

Re: Buying a Gas BBQ Grill online.

Are you talking about a proper outdoor grill for parties and such, or a tabletop for a few people? If you're considering buying canisters(?) of gas then you're not going to get much grilling done it seems. The outdoor ones Matt linked to are outrageously expensive but unfortunately the cheapest you're gonna get, unless you wait for summer to roll around again and go to Costco. But even there they're overpriced. I know you said "sky's the limit" though I just can't imagine anyone paying 550,000 (the gmarket link) for what looks like a knockoff Weber charcoal grill with a gas contraption glued onto it.

I bought my grill at Hialeah army base here in Busan before it closed. Got a buddy to get me on base and walked out with an awesome gas grill for $95, and have been using it religiously since 2006. I know that doesn't help much if you're in Busan now, but there are plenty of other bases around the peninsula. I'd say it's worth the $400 savings to make a road trip and try to befriend a soldier.

As far as the gas goes, mine's an American grill. The connection is different, but the gas delivery guy had no problem rigging up the Korean-style tank on the first delivery with a few valve/hose changes. My tank's about the size of a beer keg and it's only 6,000 won to fill it..and it lasts forever! Those places are everywhere. I guarantee there's one less than 5 blocks from your house.
