Busan Hobby photographers unite!

If you are like me, and you start talking about camera settings, and your friends eyes glaze over, this concept may be for you. If, like me, you are relatively new to DSLR photography, but show a keen interest in taking photos, this may also be for you. I got started taking photos with a DSLR a little while ago, and it's been a lot of fun. I thought making a group, and inviting anyone out there to get together to take photos with a theme/destination in mind might be a fun way to motivate people to take pictures for a reason, or at least dust off that camera you've had lying around, and get to use it a bit whilst meeting some new people, and sharing some knowledge or experience. The ideal scenario in my head would getting a theme or a place in mind after discussing it with interested people, and going out as a group, and taking some shots. I think it could be a fun way to share settings tips we all have used over time etc, and it might also be a nice way to get out of the city for a day trip once in a while on a weekend. Anybody out there?

Re: Busan Hobby photographers unite!

I'm interested too.  I have an entry level DSLR and am looking to get tips from other people, while getting out and doing something.  my email is monroemn [at] gmail [dot] com

Re: Busan Hobby photographers unite!

Have a look at the facebook group posted above, and check out the latest posts from local photographers, and ideas for events happening in Busan! Here's the latest on the FB group:

Had a weird idea for a photo 'shoot'? might be what you call it. Here goes:

People needed: 3-5
Location: Seomyeon underground shopping, or similar busy location
Equipment: semi-fast lenses, tripods, ridiculous costumes, boom box (optional)

So I had a daydream the other day teaching from a Disney book at my hagwan. We work from the small alleys in the Seomyeon underground. We stay off to the sides, and look across from one another, give a 3 count or whatever, and hop out when it's busy with our costumes (preferably full-body animal) cameras on tripods and snap people's reactions. Been thinking about different layouts of people, and perhaps two in front, and one in the back photographing more of the scene then specific subjects. What are people thinking? Please feel free to be critical, supportive, or volunteer!

Re: Busan Hobby photographers unite!

Honestly, the FB group hasn't went anywhere, as people haven't gotten motivated to get together to do something in the area. So, here's another shot at trying to call out to people interested in photography to join the FB group mentioned above, and let's get this thing rolling!

Re: Busan Hobby photographers unite!

Great idea Davey.  If the group is interested, I'd love to coordinate efforts and republish photos on Koreabridge. The recent contest helped generate a decent photo stream and I hope somehow to keep that flow going.

Re: Busan Hobby photographers unite!

Any support would be awesome! I enjoyed looking at, and participating in your contest for the first time, and these 'challenges' can hopefully be a fun way to learn and share with others.

Re: Busan Hobby photographers unite!

we've had some nice exchanges on the FB group page recently, with all kinds of photos being shared, and with over 70 members and growing, why not check it out? The more, the merrier! The group's new address on FB is http://www.facebook.com/groups/hobbyphotographers/ There are people on there with P&S cameras, beginners like myself, as well as really experienced photographers to talk with about cameras, lenses, settings, and more. See you there!
