Does anyone know if it is possible to set up a tent on Haeundae beach during the summer months? It will probably be too loud and busy in July/August, but what about June?
Has anyone tried it or know someone who has?

Here is what I know and have experienced. As Dogarse said in the peak months you are going to run into problems. The parasol Nazis are very possessive about every square inch of beach, although from what I understand they work for the local council. But, at times they have almost implied it's compulsory to hire a mat and parasol, which is complete bullS*** Despite of this on a couple of occasions I have come out of the water to find my towel and bag removed and thrown somewhere aside. A friend of mine also tried pitching a tent for him and his son and was told he couldn't.
If you were thinking over night, you might be able to get away with it. Although expect the parasol Nazis to wake you up at some ungodly hour and tell you to move. It's happened several times after a few too many beers and a night on the beach.
However, over at Song Jung you will find no such problems. There have been times when we have pitched 4 to 5 tents on the weekend during peak season. We normally do it towards the far end of the beach near the volleyball courts. We've lit a fire on a few occasions and only once did the fire brigade turn up and tell us to put it out.
Gwangan also seems to have a much more relaxed atmosphere to it. So, even in the summer months you may be able to get away with it.

I'm confused by all this mention of gangs.
Phatt you are probably right, but still no harm in trying. And what I said about Song Jong still stands, we've never had problems there.

LOL at Tharp. Nice one.
Actually was just thinking that a pretty damn awesome place to pitch a tent would be the little cove at Igidae. I'm sure no one would bother you, there's even a couple of restaurants there for supplies.

Hey I am thinking about a piece of art, if you could create it as a tent such as the one recently installed on Haeundae beach, Dennis Oppenheim's room.

Dadaepo is good for pitching a tent. A good time is in August over the Rock Festival weekend. Plus, you can pitch your tent almost inches from the sea on a very flat surface.
I was told (by a Korean friend) that you should pay to pitch your tent on Songjeong and that it is free to pitch your tent on Dadaepo.

I always pitch a tent on Haeundae beach in the summer. All those fit K-girls in bikinis has that effect on me.

Whoaaaaa... I'll be here all night, folks. Don't forget to tip your waitress. Try the chicken Kiev.
