Thailand has an interesting War history, which I have learned more of since visiting. During World War II, the Japanese used Allied prisoners of war to build a railway from Thailand to Burma to avoid problems often involved when transporting supplies by sea. As you can imagine, there were many atrocities undergone by these prisoners, and due to this, the track became known as the ‘Death Railway.’

I visited the bridge across the Kwae Yai River, just north of Kanchanburi, known as the Bridge on the River Kwai. And, yes, I whistled the tune from David Lean’s 1957 film. No one nearby seemed to notice.

Within walking distance, I also visited the Jeath War Museum. It is interesting to see the photos and weapons from World War II, but to be honest, not too interesting for me. It was mildly amusing to see weapons I have seen in such video games as Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Wolfenstein, and Brothers in Arms. But… not really.

I couldn’t find anyone who I thought could work my DSLR, so sadly, no photos of me at these places. Yet, I will always have the memories.
