The Temple of Heaven (TianTan) was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would make offerings to heaven and pray for good harvests. Walking around the park was one of my favorite parts of my trip to Beijing.

The temple itself is gorgeous. It’s on a compound that is 2,700,000 square meters, which is actually larger than the Forbidden City, but you can look at everything in about 90 minutes.

Hours: The North, East, South and West Gates are open from 06:00am to 10:00pm, but the the main attractions are only open from 08:00am to 5:30pm April 1 - October 31 and 8:00am-5:00pm November 1 - March 31.

Directions: Subway line 5 to Tiantan Dongmen Station exit A for the East Gate of the park.
