Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk 2011

It is that time again! Time to get the photogs out and get some shots at Scott Kelby’s 2011 Worldwide Photo Walk! While I am still getting ready for this year’s photowalk which will be held in the Taehwa River Grand Park, I have a few questions for those who are interested in a day of photography and a great time.  Before I get to the questions, I guess I should explain what a “Worldwide Photo Walk” is.

Every year, thousands and thousands and maybe even hundreds of thousands of photographers gather around the world to participate in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk. For the last 2 years, I have lead the photo walk in Ulsan and it has been a great time. The benefits are really great and the competition is minimal so beginners won’t feel out matched by more experienced photographers. Overall, it is a great time out and really gets your brain thinking about photos.

Scott Kelby also donates a ton of his books so that each photo walk will have a prize to give out to the best photo of the day. I am also trying to put together something special for the day as well, so that more people can take something away from this free event…. did you catch that? It’s free and the benefits don’t stop there. Those photos that make the cut will also be entered into the worldwide photo contest and have a chance to win a ton of photo-rated products.

What I love about this event is that it is free and in so many ways. What I mean is that you can show up, come and go, whatever. No one is making you do anything. All I am doing is giving you a time and an area to photograph, and that is it. The other thing that I am going to try and focus on more is getting to know people and answering some more questions. Last year, I noticed a lot of people needing a bit of help with different things and this year I am going to be around more to try and look after those people.

lastly, I love the gathering afterwards. This year we are heading to the newest location of Momo’s. It is located right behind the park in Taehwa Dong, above the Angel-in-us coffee shop. I really like these gatherings because every seems to end up being real chatty and photo talk bounces off the walls. This will be the time where we talk about our photos and show off some of the shots that we got from the day. This should prove to be a great time.

So now for the Questions:

  1. The Dates are October 1st (Sat) and October 2nd (Sun). Which dates are better for everyone?
  2. Normally I hold the photo walks around 6 pm so that we catch the sunset, blue hour and a bit of the evening. What times are best for everyone?

I ask these questions only to see what and how I can make the event better for everyone. Since the photo walk is still months away, I am still waiting for some help getting the Ulsan Photo Walk page up. Each year is always a bit of a challenge because the map that is used to select the city gets a little confused in certain places, Ulsan being one of them. At any rate, it is getting fixed and once the page is up I will forward the address so everyone can sign up officially. Until then I will keep you posted on the progress.

Until then, drop a comment below and let me know your thoughts particularly what day and what time is good for you!
