Queer Links from the Week: couple pushes Park on his stance on gay relationships, Hong Seok-cheon for Yongsan mayor, and a lesbian kiss on JTBC

A gay couple at a town hall meeting with Seoul Mayor Park Won Soon asked about gay rights, with a British expat asking 'How can I stay in Korea with the man I love? Where are my rights?' The expat, Simon HW, directly asked the mayor after having called the immigration office about applying for a partner visa several times. I applaud Simon (who actually used to work across the street from me), and hope more brave couples apply for marriage licenses. You can see the video over at youtube.

It looks like Hong Seok-cheon has announced to run for office. Korea Times US reports that Hong Seok-cheon hopes to become a leader of the Yongsan District Office, but this has kind of been talked about on and off again for a while...

In Christian News, at the Christian National Academy of Science's 44th Monthly Devotional Service and Conference, a discussion took place concerning how homosexuals need the Church's help and grace to leave their sexual deviancy. Ha. Scary part is pastor Park Jong-seo saying we need to make a research center to try to cure homosexuality.

In pop culture, MC Mong's careless statement from 2004 is re-surfacing. Apparently, he said something along the lines of if our country permitted guns, those f**s should be shot... it is also clearly written in the bible that it is a crime. In response to this becoming hot news, MC Mong has stated that although he is a Christian, and doesn't believe that people should come out, he also would never say that gays should be shot. Didn't know he was such an asshole....

On JTBC's Seonam Girls' High School Investigators, a lesbian relationship aired last week is criticized by other characters with Ha-jae, played by Min-jae Lee, saying "It is uncomfortable to meet these type of people". Gaystarnews has a clip of the first lesbian kiss on South Korean TV.

And yet another celebrity has made it clear that they are not a homosexual. Choi Yoo Shin (최우신) from Fool's Love clears up any misunderstandings about his sexuality.
