National Geographic Photo Contest 2011

It is that time of year again! Once again National Geographic is holding their photo contest and is looking for the best of the best in order to give away $10,000 and a trip to the National Geographic Headquarters in Washington D.C.  to check out their photo seminar in January 2012.  Do you have what it takes?

Now this contest is not for the faint of heart as it costs $15 USD to enter. Many will pass this one by as I know that is a steep price for a contest that got over 16,000 entries last year. However, take a look at what the editor’s think are worthy and if you have something that is close then chuck one in. You just never know…

Some things to keep in mind are that 50% of the judges vote will go for creativity and the other 50% to Photographic quality. So that is something to think about. Does your photo have “stopping power”? This goes beyond just a colourful shot but into that realm of awesomeness that really makes people give it a good look.

Before you submit and pay your fee, take a look and read through the FAQ. This will give you all the information that you need to know to enter.

Good Luck!
