My hagwon (or “private academy”) went on a field trip to an indoor playground called Tiki Tok Land. The kids loved it, especially the area where they were taught and performed diaper changes on play dolls.

Sometimes new teachers ask me what to do on field trips. My ideas?

1. Wear pants, sneakers, and a cap. Bring cash and a book. Wear layers if you’re temperature sensitive.

2. Speak English with your students as much as possible, but don’t expect anyone else to. I’ve been on field trips where zero English was spoken or written anywhere and I was half-guessing what was occurring.

3. Eat all the snacks you can get your hands on. And play.
