Korean Buddhism at Bongwon Temple

At the occasion of Chuseok I visited Bongwon 봉원사, the Buddhist temple located near Yonsei University. Many families were gathering for prayer and to commemorate loved ones that have passed.

The site has many beautiful buildings, each decorated with sculptures, paintings and golden Buddhas. Hidden up on on the hill-side of the Anh mountain, part of Yonsei’s campus, the temple has an aura of peace and calm away from the the city raucous. Bongwonsa was founded in 889 as part of the Korean Buddhist order of Taego.

The perfect place to meditate and take your time while visiting Seoul!
