Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s New ‘Psycho-Opera’

After composing the songs from the film Where the Wild Things Are, Karen O (front woman for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) is continuing to look for new ways to showcase her talent. She will be collaborating with playwright Adam Rapp to create a form of “psycho-opera, an assault on the tragic joys of youth.”

Presented by The Creators Project, an initiative that aims to promote and distribute innovative works by up-and-coming artists, the opera is set to debut at Brooklyn’s St. Ann’s Warehouse from October 13-16.

This still-untitled opera is just one of many ventures that Karen O has taken in the past few years. In 2008, she began a side project called Native Korean Rock, which features slower, more romantic songs than those of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

With all that she does, it really is amazing that Karen O doesn’t lose her head – and let it roll.
