Hotel Tugu Bali

Hotel Tugu Bali is in Canggu, a beach area in South Bali, north of Seminyak and south of Tanah Lot. Last April I stayed in the Rejang Suite for two nights. Located on the second-floor of a charming Javanese house, this suite has beautiful timber furniture, an outdoor shower, and sunken bathtub overlooking rice paddy fields and the ocean.

Hotel Tugu is for the guests who appreciate architecture, art, and culture. Guests are excited about its original interior design and high quality antiquities + handicrafts at every step: in the room, in the garden, and literally everywhere.

The Balinese are known for being polite and friendly, and the service at this hotel goes above and beyond. Airport transfers in a private car is a great way to start and end your trip. Upon arriving, you’re treated with a complimentary drink, fresh tropical fruits, and flowers in your room.

My favorite place to stay in Bali is Hotel Tugu Bali (book here). It’s the best place to stay in Bali! It’s intimate with just 22 suites, and every corner has intriguing, thought-provoking art. One could plan a budget vacation elsewhere on the island, but the dollar goes so far in Indonesia, it seems silly to do so. If you try to save money being somewhere else, you will regret the precious time you wasted traveling around the island or just merely being uncomfortable.

The location is great, as it’s in Canggu, located next to Batu Bolong Beach, with lots of fun boutiques and coffee shops nearby. For me it is the perfect location and setting.

Dining at the Tugu is also an experience in itself. The menu is extensive, from traditional Balinese, Indonesian, and Asian dishes to a full Western menu. Everything is always beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Daily breakfast and high-tea with local delicacies is set wherever and whenever your heart feels; it’s as simple as calling them on the phone.

At night, get treated as royalty during the “Royal Tugudom” dinner experience with a huge feast in the Bale Puputan room. Traditional dancing and music up-close and personal.

The hotel wants to promote the culture of Bali and its rich romantic history with a variety of day and half-day trips that allow you to explore at your own pace keeping your comfort in mind at all times. They offer their guests the Bali-as-you-please option where you can create your own tours with a driver and/or a guide to assist you. Relax each day with a wonderful spa treatment.

Full disclosure: My stay was complimentary for review purposes but I LOVED staying there. It is my favorite place to stay in Bali. Not only is the hotel wonderful, the staff were kind and helpful to all guests.
