Hanagae Beach

Read previous post : Eulwangi Beach

From Eulwangi Beach, we decided to go to Hanagae Beach.
Hanagae beach is situated on Mokdo island few minutes from our location by ferry.

After one hour of getting on the wrong bus, and figuring out our way to get there, we finally get ourselves to the correct stop to the island.
(See, this is result for not preparing on plan B)

We were lost!

Once we reached on the correct bus stop, we had to walk about half an hour to get to the pier.
Near the dock, there's lots of fresh Sashimi and seafood restaurant at a good price.
It seems that these area is quite famous within local.

Locals fish here

We had to walk to get to the pier

The ferry journey distance last about 5 to 10minutes.
However, the waiting time for cars and people to load and unload takes more time.

Once we reached the island, luck was on our side.
A bus was already waiting, so we hopped on the bus.

We see that this island is full of small minbak (cheap place to stay)
Small cafe's and houses are lined along the hills as we head towards our destination.
Locals are on holiday trip with families.
"It feels like a holiday, finally." as I said to my husband.

We had to pay 3000 won for the beach entrance.
Once entered, lots of personal tent were around the area.
It seems that we can actually camp for the night here, with some fees of course.
I wanted to go for it, however my husband does not have the confidence on our small kid tent.
Not cool. :(

Moving further inside we were greeted with a stage performance.

We finally chose a small spot and relaxed.
I wanted to swim, however it was already 6pm and the last ferry is 8.30pm on the day.
(make sure you ask the tourist info on the last ferry time)

What's a amazing, there is small beach hut lined up along the sandy beach, waiting to be rent.
There's even electrical plug in this small hut.
It was full on the day we came.

After half an hour enviously waching people playing in the water, we headed at one of the restaurant.
We ordered a set of grill clams, shells and oyster for 40,000 won.
A little bit pricey, as I heard there is another option we can bring our own clams and the restaurant could cook for a cheaper price.

When our seafood arrived, oh boy it was a lot.

Husband is confused if we can eat it all.

These clams were so fresh and we managed to finish it all. (*Snickered)

Checking out the beach - it had become low tide and this is when the famous activity takes place.
Clam digging.
The mud flats is so long, that we can walk probably nearly 500m .
My husband made a joke
"I think when it's low tide, these clams doesn't get the chance to run fast to get back to the sea.
That's why it's stuck at the mud" (=__=)

See the changes in about one and a half hour.
I find it amazing.

 High Tide

VS

Low Tide

Since we had to catch the last bus and ferry, we hurriedly head back.

Check out amazing Incheon Island from our side view

It was a well worth trip.
I fully enjoy this island, but probably we need to spend at least a night as there is lots of things to do.
Camping, trekking, and there are other beach nearby, worth to check out.

I hope to go to Hanagae beach again and drop by at the drama set 'Stairways to heaven'.
