Hacked x 2

UPDATE 1 (1:49am local time, 21 Feb 2011) The old is gone, and the new has yet to come. The good news: all 1,000+ posts have been imported into this ‘temporary’ blog. The bad news: I’ve lost some pictures in the process. OK, well not ‘lost’ them, for they’re backed up on multiple hard drives as well as in the cloud. They’re just not part of the post anymore. Apparently, the automated WordPress importer and exporter didn’t pick them up / download them. Bear with me for now – the good news, again – all the posts since I started blogging are all here.

Wait, this isn’t where you expected to land? Well, a funny thing while I was out of town last weekend: my site got hacked. Again. They were kind enough to leave their calling card on my (former) home page. As if I’ll be purchasing ‘security services’ from them. I’ll be working to rescue my newer posts, making sure they’re clean, then delete the whole flippin’ installation of WordPress (my older posts are safely unmessed with at their old home, chrisinsouthkorea.blogspot.com).

From here, I’ll be proceeding a little more gingerly. Once bitten, twice shy; twice-bitten… maybe four times shy? I never seriously thought about securing a website before, though I’m well aware of the subject now. It’s clear the standard ways don’t seem to work, though I’m not convinced any security measures are completely secure when we’re talking about software.

While I’m rebuilding a kick-ass blog, I’ll post updates on this temporary blog (hosted at cisk.wordpress.com and redirected here from chrisinsouthkorea.com). If looking for older posts, chrisinsouthkorea.blogspot.com will have them – anything from December 2010 and before is still there for your curious eyes. In the meantime, have a beverage, enjoy yourself, love the one you’re with (or want to get with), and don’t count me out.
