Fundraising event!!

Hey everyone! This is the first time that I have tried something like this. So, I have the opportunity to buy a really sweet espresso machine but the catch is that I am married and my wife will most likely kill me if I spend $800 on a used espresso machine (plus grinder and goodies!)… really…. she  would…

Basically, the story as I explained in my indie gogo page where you can make a donation, is that time and money are tight for me. I recently got married and if anyone has done that then you know how much money means to a new couple. Thus, new lenses, cameras, and other things that are nice to have put on hold in order to save money to start the new life. Everything was great until I got a message from Dylan Goldby that reminded me about how he was selling his sweet Rancilio Silvia. That is when things got complicated…

So, I made a deal with my wife that if I can came up with the cash before the end of the month using funds obtained only from my photography, I could buy it.  I thought up a plan and I saw that Simon and Martina have collected at staggering amount of money ($91,371 at the moment) on indie gogo to get a studio and I thought a mere $800 would be easy enough to do.

I know that this is not the most altruistic fundraiser. I know that I am not trying to get a new studio or help the homeless but I feel that $800 bucks isn’t a lot but at the moment it is for me and with time running out, I have to find other ways to come up with the cash. I also thought that trading photos for donations would help get people to donate.

See I have had my eye on this particular machine for years now. When I returned to Canada, I immersed myself in coffee in a failed attempted at starting up a business in Korea. Just like Simon and Martina, I too was hit with the reality that starting a business in Korea is really expensive. However, that setback did not sour my affection for coffee. While working in Vancouver I had my eye one the Rancilio silvia but couldn’t afford it. When I returned to Korea I found that the prices for that machine are insane. Thus, it was always a dream that kept being put off. My wife would just tell me “Don’t worry about it, we’ll get one when buy a house…. and have a baby and have enough savings… and…” You get the idea. However, now I have the opportunity to pick one up for a reasonable price.

At any rate, I want to put this out there. If you help me you will receive some nice perks like prints, photo books and possibly even a custom calendar. If you’d like to contribute and help me get the machine of my dreams, follow the link and help me out. If you can’t help me out, please consider sharing my link with those who you think might contribute. There is not a lot of time, but I am not asking for a lot of money.
