DMZ - Border between North and South Korea

If you read my twitter, you knew where I went yesterday - On Sunday....
It's DMZ!

I will not blab about historical of DMZ,but all I can say, I finally went to border of North and South Korea!

Well.. one of my Wishlist is to enter North Korea, for the sake of adventure, but to think again, the only way to  enter North Korea is via China, and also..it cost between USD 2K to 3K just for the trip alone... sighh...
I think I'd rather spend it on a holiday in Maldives or Miami.. or a classic channel flap..hehhehe....

Tak apalah, dapat bau pun cukup..
(Translation: It's okay, at least i can smell aka get to the nearest point to North Korea)

My trip covers almost every DMZ touristy site, except Panmunjom and Tunnel 1.
Which I hope I can go there on my next DMZ trip, again.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My trip started on a hot scorching summer, at 30 degrees.
Heading towards north, city views slowly fading into village view with lower rise house and shops.
Slowly lots of paddy field began to emerge along the way.

Reminds me of Kedah, Malaysia

Of first stop is Imjingak

Border and army with barbed wire around

 Hubby checking in to foursquare..

 Like seriously!

At the back, of civilian area, there's another gate

Ajumma wearing traditional hanbok

The most commercialized border I've ever been too.

There's even train station.
Even Popeye fast food chain.

Sneak Peak of North Korea from Far.

I've been to passing through several heavily armed border-in other countries, but nothing compared to this fancy commercialized border.

Our next DMZ spot is Tunnel 3

 Started with some history documentary.
6 combined screen - Hi-Tech

Happy face BEFORE getting in tunnel

Apparently the tunnel was deep and long!
We were exhausted and I sweat-ed profusely.
What an exercise.
And it's amazing how these soldiers went through this tunnel, needs stamina, man!

Our 'after' face

Next stop : Observatory Deck

What's amazing at this point is that I can see North Korea and South Korea flag facing each other.
At this area, only from selected area, we can take pictures, hence with my limited digital camera, I could not take the proper flag pictures

These army keeps on checking if anyone sneakily snap any pictures

Next Stop : Dorasan Station

If the station completes, fulfill one of my next wishlist - Trans-Siberian railway

I wanted to do the 'love' symbol.
Okay, half -heartedly it seems

So, we bought the train ticket which we did not take

Next Stop : Lunch

With nice 'display' at least

Next Stop : Tunnel 2

We did not get in as we are too tired (Shamefully admit)
But we bought this!

North Korean Currency

Final Destination : Another observatory Deck near Cheol Won

I personally think, one should try to visit DMZ border whenever you drop by to Korea.
Unique experience.

Oh another word of advice, you can wear casual clothing, unlike me and hubby, we thought formal attire.
Hehehe.. okay, except Panmunjom maybe semi-formal wear, i think.
