Dennis Lee’s new film ‘Jesus Henry Christ’ hits theaters on April 20

Jesus Henry Christ

Korean American director Dennis Lee has a new film being released this Friday, April 20, titled Jesus Henry Christ. As we reported last summer, the film’s peculiar title is the original name of his award-winning thesis short film which he made while attending Columbia University’s Graduate Film program.

Although the old and new films share the same title and a precocious protagonist by the name of Henry, the upcoming movie is a completely different tale brought to life by well-known actors such as Toni Collette andMichael Sheen.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:

Precocious doesn’t even begin to describe Henry James Herman, a petri dish child who writes rabble-rousing manifestos on the nature of truth… at age 10. This boy-genius misfit’s world turns upside down when—to the dismay of the doting single mother who raised him—he embarks on a search for his biological father.

Dennis Lee is best known as the writer and director of indie film Fireflies in the Garden (available on Netflix) starringRyan Reynolds and Julia Roberts. Notably, Julia Roberts helped produceFireflies, and her production company, Red Om Films, has also been instrumental in producing and financing Jesus Henry Christ.

This quirky tale of life, family and growth comes out on April 20th. For more information, check out their Facebook page and watch the trailer below.
