Bijin-do (Bijin Island, 비진도) is one of the best places...

Bijin-do (Bijin Island, 비진도) is one of the best places I’ve ever been to in Korea. With one major road, it is very small, and there are very few people there. I didn’t discover much to do beyond hanging out on the beach or going on a simple two-hour hike, but it’s very nice for a short trip. There are no bustling crowds of tourists or sprawling metropolis.

Getting there: A trip to Bijin-do will start with a bus ride to Tongyeong (통영시), which is about two hours from Busan for 9,800₩. After that, you take a taxi for 10 minutes to the ferry terminal, followed by a 40-minute ferry ride to the island (6,700 ₩). Ferries leave from Tongyeong only three times a day (at 7:00, 11:00 and 2:00 p.m.).
