Meet the Latest Hot Alcohol Drinks in South Korea

Perhaps, you know that South Korea is one of the heaviest drinking countries in the world. You will either witness or experience the wild drinking culture of Koreans for once during your stay. But, please let’s not over drink and pass out on the street! So the question is, what kind of alcohol do most Koreans drink? It’s ‘soju’, of course.

소주잔치

You just can’t imagine how much Koreans love soju. To help you get the picture, here’s the figure. An average Korean adult drinks 9.16 liters of alcohol each year, which is around 60 bottles of soju. And 1.5 million bottles are consumed in just a month. Unbelievable!

All about the Korean “Room” (Bang) Culture

Rooms, or “bangs” as it’s translated into Korean, form a huge part of the entertainment industry in Korea. Koreans love to spend time with their friends, lovers or family in these rooms that offer much more privacy. Some of the most popular of these are places like noraebang (Korean karaoke), or PC bang, which is an Internet cafe where people mostly enjoy computer games.

1. Noraebang

This is probably the most common, and the most popular, form of bang in Korea. This is a place where people can sing their hearts out for a minimum of 1 hour (the time depends on the place). Usually, the noraebangs will charge per hour (costs about 15,000 won to 25,000 won per hour, depending on the area and the timing of the day).

Eat, Play, Dance! The most delicious performance in Korea! ‘Bibap’

Bibap is a Korean nonverbal performance with the concept of Korean representative dish ‘Bibimbap.’ The show describes the cooking competition of chefs through the combination of music with b-boying, acrobatic, and martial arts. Started in 2008 as a 30 minute show, Bibap has actively participated in international and domestic food fairs, biennales, and even 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Our Trazy user, Jihyeon L, visited the Bibap show. She said it was great fun. Shall we listen to her story of how much she enjoyed it?
