Hanoi, Vietnam: My Last Days in Asia

Since I’ve spent so many nights longing to go back to the USA, it feels surreal to finally say that today is my last day here in Vietnam.  I’m so happy and relieved to finally be going back home!  I am looking forward to tackling my law school applications with full force, and I am excited to find a new job and place to live!  I am also anxious to see the people who are very important to me, and of course, to feast on fresh bagels and cream cheese. FEAST MODE! Ah, and to go to the nice quiet libraries. And to go running in nice, open sidewalks.  And to be reunited with my car.   And to have craft beer!!!!!

My last week in Asia has been spent in Hanoi with my mother.  After our action-packed trip to Sapa, we decided to stay in one place and explore it thoroughly rather than to spend long hours traveling from city to city by bus.

Dear Dad

Dad and NathanDear Dad,

In ten hours I’ll be on a plane to Korea. At the moment, the only thing that amazes me more than that fact is your boundless love and support. Where ever my passions have called me, you have been a constant force of guidance and encouragement. No words are good enough to adequately express how much that means to me, and how lucky and proud I feel to be your son.

Dear Korea #087 - Never Surrender

Another week, another comic. Yay!

First off, I do hope that this does not come across as condescending to any of my Korean readers who happen to be in the process of learning English. If anything, the purpose of this strip is to send the opposite message.

Every so often, especially when I’m out with my foreigner friends, I’ll approach a Korean who wants to try his/her English abilities with me. Though not everyone is a fan of this, I personally love it. The downside is that I often get too excited, and I tend to speak very quickly (and loudly) when I’m excited. This usually scares the poor Korean away, leaving me wanting to chase after them while screaming “LET ME LOVE YOU”. To everyone I’ve scared away, I’m so sorry.

Dear Korea #051

Dear Korea #051

Where did this year go? I have no idea, but I’m definitely going to miss it. I hope it’s the same case for everyone else out there. I just hope 2012 turns out to be as awesome. The world not ending would be nice too.

Anyways, I sincerely apologize for the horrible lateness of this comic. While I did have a fun holiday, I ended up getting really sick over the weekend, and I’ve been trying to recover ever since. I seem to end up getting sick whenever I get time off. It’s a horrible cycle.

Anyone recognize the other characters in this week’s strip?

By the way, for those of you that can’t read Korean…

감사합니다! = Thank you!
