Girls' Night Out, Hongdae Style

Nowhere else in Asia (or perhaps the world) does nightlife as well as Seoul, and although there's a party for everyone, there are a number of places designed especially for the entertainment of women. But we're not just talking buy-one-get-one-free drinks and half priced appetizers. Think more along the lines of cute guys in hard hats, sultry stage performances and plenty of places to pamper yourself.

So, round up your girlfriends, book your hair appointment, dig out that little black dress and dust off your dancing shoes. It's time for a girls' night out, Seoul style.

I'll be letting you in on all the places worth checking out around Seoul with your favorite ladies in this new monthly series, but first up is perhaps the city's most legendary nightlife district: Hongdae.

Registration For May 23rd Meeting Open!!

Well Mamas & Papas, we have been doing this meeting thing for about three years now.  And that’s a lot of bars!  So whenever there is something new on the scene, we jump on it so others can explore.  Well there is  relatively new bar that has been receiving quite a bit of buzz lately that we couldn’t wait another second to try it out!

Neurin Maeul Brew Pubs

Registration For May 2nd Meeting Open!!

Well Mamas & Papas, you may have noticed a bit of a gap in meetings of late.  MMPK HQ has been hunkering down for a super important test that has taken all our focus for the last few weeks, but now that it is done we are salivating for some good makgeolli!  In the three years we have been in operation, we have been to some amazing bars and seen the industry begin to re-discover the beauty in traditional recipes and quality drinks.  So in celebration of (hopefully) the end of our testing time, we thought instead of visiting a new bar, it might be fun to revisit some of our favorites, with an added twist!

Registration for 28th February Meeting Open!!

We’ve got an unusual one for you this weekend Mamas & Papas!  For anyone that has been to one of our meetings, one of the regular makgeollis we order is Seong Myeong Sub.  It’s a dry, chalky brew that is aspartame free and has a lot of character behind not just the brew but also the brewer.

2015 New Year Party @Muldwinda!!

Happy New Year Mamas & Papas!

10 Things South Korea Does Faster

One of the first Korean words I learned after my arrival to the peninsula was bbali (빨리). Meaning "fast," it's a term used frequently and, in my opinion, perfectly summarizes the entire country in two syllables. After all, the nation rose from the ashes of the Korean War in a mere six decades to become one of the world's greatest economies. In general, Koreans do a lot of things fast. Here's 10 of them, in no particular order.
