Sorae (서래) used to be my favorite pork barbecue (갈매기살) restaurant, but I think I like Galmaegi Meokjjang (갈매기먹짱) more these days. They line the grill with cheese on one side and scrambled eggs on the other. You have to order at least three servings, which start at 4,500₩ a serving, so it’s still really cheap and tasty.
Jjim dalk (찜닭) literally means “steamed chicken,” but it’s kind of misleading as the chicken is broiled rather than steamed. I’ve been told it’s a food to eat while drinking, but I like eating it all the time, drink or not.
One of my favorite places to eat this is at Du Namja (두남자 찜닭, Two Males). Their slogan is: “We are confident that we are #1.” I think they just might be. Prices range from 16,000-24,000₩ +3,000₩ for cheese and you know I gotta have that cheese!
One of my favorite restaurants in Cheonan, South Korea is a hot tofu soup restaurant called LA 북창동순두부. I think it’s a chain that you can find in other cities, so if you see it elsewhere, you should check it out. The restaurant has the traditional Korean soup in different variations such as dumplings, curry, etc. for up to 8,000₩.
