haeundae

Sexual Soju Korea

I would like to welcome myself, once again, to the 21st century.  I just uploaded my very first YouTube video!!     …Wooooooooow.  Since I don’t yet have the capability to upload videos directly onto here (because I am too cheap), I will prompt you to click the link below if you would like to see it.  As they say in Korea, it’s “nothing special”, but I found it rather hilarious at the time.  Enjoy!

Wolfhound coming to Busan?

According to its website, Seoul's famous Wolfhound Irish Pub and Restaurant will be opening a branch in Haeundae in November.

I, for one, am looking forward to enjoying a shepard's pie with a glass of cider this winter.

3 days ago it was Gilad Shalit’s birthday…

3 days ago, she was out, with some friends. She spent a great evening, laughing, drinking.

There was, in a bar in Haeundae, a stand up comedy show, where some of her friends were performing. They were making jokes about those little things that happens in their everyday life, about the human stupidity, about the world in general.

And she was laughing. She couldn’t stop.

Haeundae Beach

Korea’s most famous beach, Haeundae has been noted for its impressive beauty for more than a thousand years. It is easy to understand why when you see that great curve of land meeting the ocean. And it is also easy to understand why this natural setting draws hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to its sea and sand.

Life Imitates Fantasy Art

A rare perspective of Haeundae in Busan, where photographers usually focus on the often million plus people on the beach rather than all the rapid construction at its Southern end towards Gwanganli.

49 Minutes in Busan’s Museum of Modern Art

Back from my whirlwind one day, one night mission to Shanghai, where I caught up with Canadian band Jets Overhead on their 11-day China tour.  After performing the previous two nights at Expo’s Great Hall and America Square, they rocked the stage at Yuyintang bar, infusing the packed room with a whole lot of rich vocals and thick, layered grooves. This week I’m putting all the deets together for an upcoming story in Eloquence mag, currently titled “24 Hours in Shanghai with Jets Overhead.”  In the mornings I wake wishing I could sip coffee and write all afternoon, but the kids and the classes await, so more late-night sessions it is.  New posts to come after Saturday…

Taco Senora, Haeundae

So, previously I reviewed the lackluster mexican menu of Fuzzy Navel, not that it even needs a mention - it's even in the damn Lonely Planet. Here is an even better and cheaper option for mexican food in Haeundae - Taco Senora.

Fuzzy Navel, Haeundae/Seomyeon

The very popular Fuzzy Navel in Haeundae has been serving quality mexican food for some time. Now that Busan is finally warming up, its one of the best places in Busan to spend a Sunday afternoon relaxing, drinking and enjoing some hard to come by quesadillas.

Busan, Jung-dong, Dalmaji (Haeundae) - Vesta Spa & Fitness

Vesta Spa & Fitness is currently under construction. It is scheduled to be completed on June 1, 2010. I believe they are closed for business during this time; I'd recommend calling ahead if you plan on visiting this month.

This large, well-located spa has a long reputation among foreigners and Koreans alike in Busan. Since I've heard so many good things about the place, I had high expectations. Luckily, I had the treat of visiting with someone who had been there many times before, including once long ago. She was able to offer some well-needed insight on my experience.

The Planet Guesthouse

The PLANET Guesthouse newly opened in August 2009 is situated in a superb location overlooking beautiful Haeundae Beach. This cozy and comfortable guest house is only for woman and provides you a bright, clean and save environment.

The beach is right on our doorstep-just cross one street to take a plunge in the sea, if you're feeling chilly or tired after your trip around Busan, have a reviving hot shower and relax in the comfort of your bed.
