Vlog Entry #7: Busan International Fireworks Festival

Busan, You’re A Firework

busan ffI don’t consider myself a pyromaniac, but I will say I do love me some fireworks. The way they sparkle and shine against the dark night sky. The elongated screech they produce as they’re released into the air, and the extra half second it takes for that final BANG to reach the ears. And there’s something about the collective experience of standing in a crowd with your neck craned high, saying “Woahhhhh!” along with everyone else.

Top 10 Attractions at Everland Theme Park

Everland is, without a doubt, Korea's best amusement park. Modeled after Disney World- albeit on a much smaller scale- the theme park consists of plenty of fun attractions that draw in more than 7 million visitors a year. With those attendance numbers, one can only imagine what the weekend crowds are like, particularly at peak times, such as summer vacation.

Which is why I was happy to learn on on my most recent visit with my blogger buddy Ken that the park is actually delightful during the week. In fact, we weren't even bothered by the scorching summer temps, as there were practically no lines for the rides. This allowed us to see a lot of the park comfortably and at our own pace. Additionally, the shuttle bus we booked with Funko made getting there easy as pie.

This Post Has No Photos

Lately, I have taken a lot of photographs.  I mean, A LOT.  Like, thousands.  Somewhere in the sorting out of responsibilities in our union, I became the primary photography for our little family.  And, don’t get me wrong, I love it.  I have a blast trying to capture great shots of all the cool places we get to go and the awesome things we see along the way.  I am much more at home behind a lens that I would have ever thought I could be.

However, yesterday we saw one of the most visually stunning things we have encountered since moving to Korea.  And, despite having my camera with me and a fully charged battery, I have no photos of it.

Yangsan Sabryang Culture Festival – 양산삽량문화축제

You never go long without going to a festival in Korea, but it seems like during the Spring and Fall there are festivals going on every single weekend! This weekend was no exception, but this time it was in our own backyard! This weekend was the Yangsan festival, and although we had not originally planned on going, I’m so glad we did!

Photographing the Busan Fireworks Festival 2012 Pt.2

If you haven’t read the first post you can read it here. At any rate, I am going to elaborate more on the topic and provide some great information about actually getting decent shots from this weekend. Since this will be my first actual time heading there with the intent of capturing images and not just enjoying the moment, I will be showing images of past firework events that I have been to. Don’t worry the information and techniques will be exactly the same.

Burst 2011

new traditions

Let's hop on a boat and head into town stopping at ancient temples along the way, with a colorful group of new friends and watch the spectacular fireworks over the Bangkok skylne from the best seat in the city. Sounds like a NYE that will not soon be forgotten.
